For product, growth and startup teams
Product Insight Review
Your dashboard shows that sign ups went up and retention went down. It does not show why. A Product Insight Review takes one product question, such as why trial users leave or which features keep customers coming back, and answers it with tested evidence from your own user data. You get clear user segments, the differences that are real and a short list of changes worth testing next.
The short answer
What is a Product Insight Review?
It is a fixed scope analysis of your product data, built around one question your team needs answered. We group users by what they actually do, compare those groups on the outcome you care about, such as activation, purchase or cancellation, and check that each difference holds up statistically before we call it a finding.
Most product teams already have dashboards. What they lack is the time to ask whether a pattern is real, which users it affects and what to do about it. A statistician separates real signals from noise, so your next release is aimed at the right users.
Product workflow
Where a Product Insight Review fits in your product cycle
A product team usually moves through the same stages, and each one produces information. The analyst joins at the point where real user data exists, then feeds the findings back into the next cycle. Many teams combine roles, so your team may have fewer people than shown here.
Product manager
Their work: Decides the problem, the users and the success metric.
Where we fit: Helps turn the goal into a measurable question.
UX and UI designer
Their work: Designs flows, screens and the app experience.
Where we fit: Agrees the key events to track, so the data can answer the question later.
Software and product engineers
Their work: Write the code and the tracking that records user actions.
Where we fit: Checks that events are recorded correctly, with no gaps or duplicates.
Security engineer
Their work: Checks access, permissions and how user data is stored.
Where we fit: Works only with pseudonymized or aggregated data.
Growth marketer
Their work: Runs onboarding, campaigns and tests with real users.
Where we fit: Designs and reads the A/B tests and compares user segments.
Data analyst
Their work: Reviews the feedback data the app generates after launch.
Where we fit: Runs the Product Insight Review and recommends the next changes.

How this service grows
Shaped by the questions teams bring us
Product Insight Review is one of our newest services, and we are building it around real questions rather than guesses. When a team asks something new, we add the type of question to our review library, with names and data removed. That library shapes our data checklists, our templates and the answers on this page, so each review starts faster and covers what product teams actually need.
- Your data stays yours. We never reuse client data or results.
- Only the type of question is recorded, for example "why do trial users leave".
- New answers are added to this page and our FAQ as patterns appear.
How it works
Four steps from question to answer.
- Step 1
Question
We agree one product question, the metric that defines success and the decision your team will make with the answer.
- Step 2
Data check
We review your exported event and user data for missing tracking, duplicates and changes in how events were recorded.
- Step 3
Analyze
We segment users with transparent methods, compare the groups on your metric and test each difference on held back data.
- Step 4
Recommend
You receive a short report, ranked recommendations and a test plan, followed by a review call with your team.
Questions we help you answer
If you are asking these, we can help.
Tools we use
- ?Which users are most likely to become paying customers?
- ?Why do trial users leave before they reach the key feature?
- ?Which features are linked to customers who stay?
- ?Are our user segments really different, or just different sizes?
- ?Did our last release change behavior, or was it seasonal?
- ?How many users do we need for our next A/B test?
FAQ
Questions about Product Insight Review
Cannot see your question? Ask it in the enquiry form and you will get a direct answer.
See all FAQsHow is this different from a dashboard?
A dashboard shows what happened. A Product Insight Review explains which users drove it, tests whether the difference is real and recommends what to change. Many teams use both: the review finds what matters and the dashboard tracks it.
Do we need a product analytics tool?
No. We work with exports from your existing tool, a data warehouse or raw event logs. If your tracking is incomplete, we will tell you what to record first.
What data do you need?
Usually a table of users with sign up dates, key events and outcomes such as activation, purchase or cancellation. We agree the exact fields during the free assessment.
How much data is enough?
There is no fixed number. It depends on how many users reach the outcome you care about. During the free assessment we check whether your data can support reliable segments, and we tell you honestly if it cannot yet.
Will you handle personal data?
We prefer pseudonymized user IDs and aggregated data. We work under our confidentiality terms and can sign an NDA.
How long does a review take?
It depends on the question and the state of your data. You receive a timeline with the fixed quote after the free assessment.
